Discount Calculator

Find sale price, dollars saved, and final cost after a percentage discount.

Quickly calculate the final price of an item after a sale or promo discount. This is useful when comparing store offers, online coupon codes, and clearance pricing.

Discount formula

Savings equal original price × discount percentage. The final sale price is original price minus those savings. A $100 item at 30% off saves $30 and costs $70 before tax.

Stacked discounts are different

Two discounts applied one after another are not the same as adding the percentages. For example, 20% off followed by another 10% off produces a 28% total reduction, not 30%. Run the calculator twice if a retailer applies discounts sequentially.

Sales tax

This tool calculates the discount only. If you need tax afterward, use the Sales Tax Calculator and enter the discounted price.

Frequently asked questions

Can the discount be more than 100%?A normal retail discount should not exceed 100%. The calculator will still perform the math if you enter a larger number.
Does it include coupons?Yes, if the coupon is a percentage. For a fixed-dollar coupon, subtract that amount first or after the percentage based on the store's rules.
