PTO Accrual Calculator

Estimate paid-time-off hours earned per pay period and over a year.

Estimate how a fixed annual PTO allowance would accrue across weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, or monthly pay periods.

Accrual formula

Annual PTO hours are divided by the number of pay periods. For example, 120 hours divided by 26 biweekly periods is about 4.62 hours per pay period.

Employer policies can be more complex

Some employers front-load PTO, use hours-worked accrual, impose caps, change rates by tenure, or treat holidays separately.

Use your policy documents

For payroll or leave decisions, compare this estimate with your employer handbook or HR system.
